Hello World
The blog’s first post takes a brief look at the origins of the “Hello World!” tradition. It explores how the phrase became widespread through the C language and Brian Kernighan.
I want to begin my first blog post with that traditional text—the first thing printed on the screen when learning a new programming language in the software world: "Hello World!"
So, where does "Hello World" come from?
I looked into it, and the use of the "Hello World!" text is a long-standing tradition. It dates back to an internal Bell Laboratories guide on the C programming language, _Programming in C: A Tutorial_, written by Brian Kernighan in 1974. A year earlier, Kernighan had also used the words "hello" and "world" in an introductory document for the B programming language.
However, the phrase gained its real popularity through _The C Programming Language_, published by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie in 1978.
